- 2 pounds ground beef
- 4 slices, cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 Hickory wood chunk
- Salt
- Pepper
- Granulated garlic
Instructions
- Heat grill to 350-400 degrees with the hickory chunk for smoke flavor.
- Form meat into 4, 1/3 pound patties and season on both sides with salt, pepper and granulated garlic.
- Place patties on the grill grate and cook for 5 minutes with the lid closed. Flip and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Check the internal temperature for 125-135 degrees using an instant-read thermometer. Depending on the thickness, the burgers may need an additional 1-2 minutes per side.
- Melt cheese on the patties for 30 seconds.
- Toast buns, if desired.
- Remove patties to toasted rolls and let rest for 5 minutes before serving with your favorite hamburger toppings.
