Grilled BBQ Chicken

- 1 whole chicken, 4-6 pounds
- 2 Tbsp your favorite, no-sugar poultry rub
- 1/4 cup your favorite BBQ sauce, at room temperature
Instructions
- Prepare grill for direct, medium heat, about 300 degrees.
- Remove backbone from chicken by running kitchen shears along either side of the backbone. Flip and press firmly down on breasts to crack the breastbone to flatten chicken.
- Season on both sides with your favorite poultry rub.
- Place on grill, skin side down and cook for 20 minutes with the lid closed.
- Flip and continue cooking with lid closed for additional 20 minutes.
- Brush BBQ sauce onto chicken sin and continue cooking for additional 10 minutes or until an instant read thermometer measures 160 degrees in the breast.
- Remove from grill and let rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
